Mount Vernon- George Washington’s House

At Mount Vernon, the line to go in the house was miles long, and plus, we couldn’t go in until our ticket said we could.  So, we toured the grounds.  We went down to the farm side.  The first thing we went down to was the wharf.  George Washington had a really pretty boathouse!  The boat there wasn’t George’s, though,  it was a tour boat called the “Miss Christine”.  No, really!  After that, we went and saw all the farms.  He grew lots and lots of vegetables!  He also had some sheep, two horses, and two cows.  Then we took the Forest Trail back towards the Estate side and saw a giant owl!  Here are some pictures:

The first one is the owl.  The second one is me and V at the stables.  The last one is the Miss Christine leaving the wharf.

After visiting the Farm side, we went back to the Estate side.  We couldn’t go in the house, so we saw George’s gardens.  They weren’t as cool as the Farm side,  so I won’t go in to much detail.  We saw the greenhouse, but it wasn’t a greenhouse anymore.  I’m not actually sure what it was!  Then, it was time to go in the mansion.  We had to wait in a long line.  When we finally got to the house, we saw the dining rooms.  Sometimes they could have over 300 guests per year, so they needed lots of dining and bedrooms!  We couldn’t take pictures, so I don’t have any.  But it was cool!  We got to see the bedroom where George Washington lived - and died.  We didn’t get to go to the 3rd floor, unfortunately.  But, I still had a great time!  I’m not sure where I’m going tomorrow.  Signing off...for now!
